Press Release Summary = Australia could be short of some 200,000 workers in the next five years and some employers are already feeling the labour market pinch.
Press Release Body = The Australian government is set to launch the third phase of an advertising campaign to try to tackle the skill shortage crisis.
The Welfare to work campaign will encourage employers to look beyond the traditional avenues for finding new staff, and particularly to target the disabled, older people, parents returning to work and the long term unemployed. Joe Hockey said \"Australia could be short of some 200,000 workers in the next five years and some employers are already feeling the labour market pinch.\"
The \"work for the dole awards\" are also being presented in Canberra this weekend by Sharmon Stone, aimed at encouraging people to enter the labour market who for various reasons feel marginalised by conventional routes.
Darrell Todd, migration specialist applauded the moves, saying \"This is more good news for all job seekers in Australia. Encouraging employers to take a positive and diverse view of recruitment is good for the country, for job-seekers and for prospective migrants.\"
